Members of Team Paddle Past Cancer have survived cancer or are currently undergoing treatment. Leading active lives, these individuals inspire the world to open their minds and hearts and to believe in all possibilities.
Some of our members are paddling in honor of those who are no longer with us, or in support of a family member or a friend. We Welcome Anyone Affected by Cancer!
"Art for Charity" - Limited Orchid Prints for Sale! This orchid was drawn by a member of the Paddle Past Cancer dragon boat team, which AACSN sponsors. It is available for sale in 16 x 20” giclee prints. All after-cost proceeds will go to AACSN.
The prints are done on heavy, archival cotton rag paper. Giclee (“jhee - clay”) is a high quality printing process that produces a rich, accurate image. These prints are in a limited edition of 100 and are individually signed and numbered by the artist, Matt Kina. It fits in a standard 16 x 20” frame.
The cost is $60 plus $10 for shipping, for a total of $70. Grace Bernal led Team Survivor, a group of women who have survived some form of cancer, in warm-up exercises in the parking lot before they headed out to paddle on Mission Bay.
“Strokers” Grace Bernal (left) and Roberta Wells-Famula put on their serious faces as they led a dragon boat of nine other women in a paddle on Mission Bay. Most of the women have had cancer at some point in their lives.
Coach Cheance Adair and her dog Jack steered the dragon boat for Team Survivor, a group of women who have survived cancer, on Mission Bay. The group also offers yoga classes, group walks and triathlon training for female cancer survivors.
Team Survivor paddled in the Tecolote 2000 race under the direction of coach Cheance Adair.
