Many cancer patients get needles in their arms for treatment purposes and this can be painful and stressful. Sometimes, patients "run out of veins"!
There are "vascular access devices" or alternatives to IV's to help patients get their treatments easier.
Nadine Nakazawa, RN, is an oncology nurse at Stanford Hospital and teaches nurses how to take care of these special devices and insert them. She will talk about why these devices can help the cancer patient get their IV treatment s more easily and answer questions on how to decide which is the right device for a particular patient.
